Chihiro arcade games running on 128mb ram modded Xboxes.

The guys over at Assemblergames and Emuxtras have figured out a way to run Chihiro arcade games on modchipped/softmodded Xboxes with the extra 128mb mod, sadly the standard xboxes only came with 64mb ram so these games do boot on those but they seem to crash after entering the menu (this is the case with Virtua Cop 3 at least.)

The cool thing is that the chihiro is soo similar to the xbox so Virtua Cop 3 even works with the xbox lightgun!.

Extra info from wikipedia:

"The Sega Chihiro system is a Sega arcade system board based on the architecture of the Xbox. The 733 MHz Intel Pentium III CPU and the Nvidia XChip graphics processor are common to both. Unlike the Xbox, Chihiro can support up to 512MB RAM through add-in memory modules. Chihiro games are distributed on Sega GD-ROM media, instead of standard DVD-ROM used by the Xbox.

Because the Chihiro and Xbox share the same hardware architecture, porting from the Chihiro is theoretically easier than porting from a different arcade platform. In practice, the much smaller memory-capacity of the Xbox (64MB), presents a formidable challenge for home-conversions of arcade titles which use Chihiro's larger memory configuration, however the Xbox release of OutRun 2 was able to retain the look and feel of the original 512 MB arcade version."

Games available for Chihiro:

Crazy Taxi High Roller
Ghost Squad
Gundam Battle Operating Simulator
Ollie King
Out Run 2
Sega Club Golf 2006 Next Tours
Sega Network Taisen Mahjong MJ 2
Sega Network Taisen Mahjong MJ 3
The House of the Dead III
Virtua Cop 3
Ford Racing Full Blown
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2

New homebrew game for the Pc-engine: Ultimate Rally Club.

"The programmer Orion has released a racing game demo for the PCE CD with the help of Gregg (menu graphics and music) and myself (intro and ingame graphics.) There's also a small video on youtube (although the sound is slightly out of sync, the capture having a low frame rate)"

#CD64 message board still standing after 10 years.

Here's a funny thing I found , it's the old message board for the #CD64 IRC channel (which is long gone) but it's still being hosted here http://www.network54.com/Forum/12471/

The last post is from January 2001 which is the same year the N64 died in EU/US (yes I know Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 came out 2002 in low production but it doesn't count:P ).

I find the post "No Hope for Banjo Tooie. Woolie, Nov 24, 2000" specially funny cause 11 years later it would actually finally get cracked ;). http://www.network54.com/Forum/12471/message/975715511/Confirmed/

Video of the Neogeo prototype game "Last Odyssey Pinball Fantasia" surfaces.

The owner of http://www.neogeoprotos.com/ posted this clip back in April on youtube, he also has a old article on the game here: http://www.neogeoprotos.com/games/last_odyssey.htm

Bart reveals some new pictures of his Sega Model 3 emu.

"A lot of people have been asking me when the next version of Supermodel will be released. The answer is: when it's ready. I'd like to get it out before the end of the month so I can start working on dynamic recompiling CPU cores but I can't guarantee anything given my hectic schedule. There are still some sound bugs to resolve and lots of little loose ends to tie up here and there before a release can be made."

Keep your eyes peeled to his blog for updates: http://www.trzy.org/Supermodel/WhatsNew.html
